Shri Yamuna Dharmraj Temple also known as Yam Yamuna Temple is one of the ancient temples in Mathura situated nearby Vishram Ghat and Dwarkadheesh temple. The temple is standing erect as a testament to spirituality and architectural brilliance. The small height door gilded in silver takes you to main room to seek blessings and solace of deity. In the centre of room, there is black coloured idols of Lord Yam and Goddess Yamuna with hands raised to give blessing to their benevolent. You can see the Yamuna Goddess with meal plate in one hand and lotus flower in another, applying tika from third hand and taking blessing from fourth. The temple's design seamlessly blends intricate carvings, vibrant frescoes, and sacred symbols, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region. Story of Yam Yamuna Temple

In honour of the inseparable bond between Yum and Yamuna, the temple narrates a history steeped in affection. As per mythological tales and books, during Bhaiduj, Yamuna graciously hosted her brother, Yum, for a meal. Following Hindu customs, Yumraj ji offered his sister anything she desired. With no material wishes, Yamuna sought a timeless blessing, ensuring a perpetual radiance on her ghats every Bhaiduj. After this meal, they take a bath in holy water at Vishram Ghat. This enduring tale of sibling love is enshrined within the temple's walls, symbolizing the eternal connection between Yum and Yamuna and the enduring significance of their heartfelt exchange on that auspicious day. Following this belief, many brother and sister visit Yamuna ghat and temple on occasion of Bhai Dooj and Diwali to take a holy dip in sacred water of river and get rid of harsh judgements of God of Death- Lord Yam. During these days, you can face a huge crowd in Mathura, especially in this temple.

Situated adjacent to Vishram Ghat, People must take bath and enjoy boat rides in Vishram ghat. This ghat is famous because Lord Krishna rested at this place after killing demon Kansa. If you ae reaching in evening time, you will see the beautiful spectacle of prayers and aarti.
