Birla Mandir History

Seth Raja Baldeo Das Birla and his sons, Jugal Kishore Birla and Rameshwar Das Birla, conceived the idea to build the Birla Mandir in Jaipur. Known for their successful ventures in various industries, the Birla family felt the need for a majestic temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. Driven by their deep devotion, they took on the responsibility of financing the construction. In 1988, the construction began and continued for several years.

For the architectural design and construction, the Birla family entrusted the renowned architect Sris Chandra Chatterjee. Given the gigantic size and intricate marblework, the project was a significant undertaking. The Birla Mandir saw its official inauguration in 1988, graced by the presence of the then-President of India, Giani Zail Singh. This moment marked the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by the Birla family and the skilled artisans involved in bringing the temple to life.
